Our top priorities, explained.
BCBS companies are addressing the opioid crisis in communities around the country, ensuring patients get the right care in the right setting.
Why does healthcare cost so much? The price of medical care is the single biggest factor, accounting for 90 percent of spending.
BCBS companies provide coordinated, patient-centered care for millions of Medicare beneficiaries and are making sure it continues to modernize.
As prescription drug prices climb, we are working to ensure BCBS members get the medication they need at a price they can afford.
BCBS companies provide access to critical health services for millions of adults and children through Medicaid, and are addressing the unique health challenges they face.
Healthcare should be available to everyone, no matter who they are or where they live. This starts with improving the individual market.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that approximately 50 million people suffer from chronic or severe pain – just over 20 percent of the U.S. adult population. In fact, chronic pain is one of the most common reasons people seek medical care. To put this number in perspective, 29 million people in the U.S. have diabetes. Yet, unlike treatment for diabetes, treatment for chronic pain is much more complex, as the root cause of pain is often difficult to diagnose. Without knowing what exactly causes the pain, doctors focus on relieving the symptom rather than pinpointing the cause.
