Washington Post LIVE Coronavirus: Leadership During Crisis
The Blue Cross Blue Shield Association was pleased to sponsor the first virtual Washington Post LIVE Coronavirus Leadership During Crisis interview featuring Ohio Governor Mike DeWine (DeWine). Ohio was one of the first states to implement sweeping measures to combat the spread of COVID-19. In fact, many of these measures were enacted before the state’s first case was reported.
Here are some key takeaways from the event:
Sharing and collaborating with peers – DeWine was quick to point out, that – although it may not always be apparent to the general public – local, state and federal leaders are regularly collaborating and sharing insight into how best to navigate the coronavirus crisis.
Setting priorities and sticking with them – Ohio set two priorities at the start: saving lives and sparing the health care system from becoming overwhelmed. As early signs begin to indicate success, the state is beginning to shift focus to what’s next.
Looking beyond the immediate circumstances – Ohio is now looking to the future, trying to better determine when the restrictions on movement can safely be lifted, address school funding issues and restart the economy.
